We Love A Monochromatic Moment

One of my favorite types of outfits to put together are monochromatic looks. Sometimes I just need to find an outfit quickly, so pulling pieces from the same color can be easy at times.

The show Girlfriends always had the main characters’ outfits on point. This clip has two of my favorite outfits that are seen on the show. Toni Childs (right) and Joan Clayton (left) perfectly define a bestie monochrome moment.

Sets

Sets are so easy to put together because they’re usually from the same place, and you don’t have to put much thought into it. Another type of set is a sweatpants and sweater set if you just want to chill and lounge. Jlo is seen wearing a red mini skirt and tank set from the 90’s, which looks like it can be worn today! Halle Berry is wearing an all black outfit. Although it looks like a set, I’m not entirely sure. Nonetheless, the all black outfit looks amazing, and her accessories really bring the look together.

Colors

I don’t like super crazy and bright colors most of the time, especially with monochrome outfits. Pink is one of the only exceptions because, well, it’s pink! I usually like to go monochrome with the three B’s: brown, black, and beige.

Coordinating colors

You can still have fun and explore with monochromatic looks if done right. Using different shades from the same color is fun, and all of the shades can still coordinate together. This outfit that Beyonce wore is a great example. She is wearing blue, but the skirt is a different fabric (looks like velvet) and a darker shade of blue. However, both shades of blue coordinate well together, making this outfit a monochromatic look.

Thank you for tuning into this week’s post about monochrome looks. If you’re just starting to build your style and wardrobe, start by experimenting with monochrome outfits, and figure out which colors best suit you. <3
